Google’s 15th annual Year in Search, released this morning at 12:00 a.m. EST, includes lists of the year’s top trending topics in a broad range of subjects: from people (Lamar Odom) to politicians (Donald Trump), selfies (Malia Obama) to soccer players (Cristiano Ronaldo), and celebrity pregnancies (Kim Kardashian) to celebrity weddings (Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello).
Not included, strangely enough, was a top 10 list for consumer tech. But Venture Beat’s Emil Protalinski asked for one, and Google helpfully provided it:
- Apple’s iPhone 6s
- Samsung Galaxy S6
- Apple Watch
- Apple’s iPad Pro
- LG G4
- Samsung Galaxy Note 5
- Samsung Galaxy J5
- HTC One M9
- Google’s Nexus 6P
- Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4
.
If you’re keeping score at home, that’s three Apples (AAPL), three Samsungs, and one each for LG (KRX), HTC (HTC), Google (GOOG) and Microsoft (MSFT).
Google did nice job with the video that accompanied this year’s lists. It strikes deeper chords than what we usually see from the Googleplex. “In 2015,” the opening text reads, “the questions we asked revealed who we are.”
