Donald Trump is still running at the top of the Republican primary polls, though he now has company in Ben Carson. Trump was under the media spotlight this weekend when he hosted Saturday Night Live, but he’ll need to shift his focus from sketch comedy back to politics if he wants to beat back Carson and stay at the very top of the heap.
Trump’s hardline approach to reforming America’s immigration system has received significant support on the right, especially among Tea Party and conservative voters. Tuesday evening’s debate, which will be broadcast by Fox Business, will likely focus on the business community’s stake in immigration reform. Trump will need to communicate to voters that his plan will save jobs for Americans and be good for the business world as well.
Trump should continue to be Trump—loud, abrasive, and in your face. Before he entered the race, it seemed unlikely that someone with his personality could win over voters. So far, though, he has. He shouldn’t mess with that.
