Facebook’s first official statistics from Nigeria and Kenya show the site has close to 20 million active monthly users in those countries, Reuters reports. As of June 30, there are 15 million in Nigeria and 4.5 million in Kenya.

The statistics also showed that all Facebook users in Nigeria used mobile devices to access the website. In Kenya, 95% of Facebook access was mobile.

Nigeria and Kenya are among sub-Saharan Africa’s most well-populated and well-developed countries, making them important entry points for Facebook to gain entrance to other markets throughout the continent.

The number of active monthly users across all of Africa grew from 100 million in September of last year to 120 million this past June.

Facebook opened its first African office, headed by Nunu Ntshingila, in June.
