Biomet Inc., a Warsaw, Ind.-based maker of musculoskeletal and biotechnology products, has agreed to acquire Lanx Inc., a Broomfield, Colo.–based developer of devices for spine fusion surgery. No financial terms were disclosed. Biomet sponsors include Goldman Sachs, KKR, The Blackstone Group and TPG Capital. Lanx has raised around $25 million in private funding, from firms like Credit Suisse Asset Management, Hercules Technology Growth Capital, Chicago Growth Partners, Goldman Sachs Private Equity Opportunities Fund, Noro-Moseley Partners and Oakwood Medical Investors.www.lanx.com

The Carlyle Group has joined Thai billionaire Dhanin Chearavanon‘s bid for Hong Kong supermarket chain ParknShop, according to Reuters. Seller Hutchison Whampoa is hoping to secure between $3
