Mevion Medical Systems, a Littleton, Mass.-based radiation therapy company, has raised $45 million in new VC funding. ProQuest Investments led the round, and was joined by return backers Caxton Heath Life Sciences, Venrock and CHL Medical Partners. www.mevion.com

Glori Energy Inc., a Houston, Texas-based provider of biotech solutions to increase recovery from mature oil wells, has raised $20 million in Series C funding. Gentry Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by Advantage Capital Partners and return backers Energy Technology Ventures, GTI Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), Oxford Bioscience Partners, Malaysian Life Sciences Capital Fund and The Omzest Group. Glori Energy filed for a $115 million IPO last October, with Credit Suisse serving as lead underwriter. www.glorioil.com

Prosensa, a Dutch developer of RNA-modulating therapeutics, has raised €23 million in new VC funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round, and was joined by return backers Abingworth Management, Life Sciences Partners, Gimv, Idinvest Partners and MedSciences Capital.www.prosensa.com

Adara Media Inc., a Mountain View, Calif.-based online marketing platform, has raised $12.4 million in new VC funding. August Capital led the round, and was joined by return backers ONSET Ventures, Morgenthaler Ventures and Baseline Ventures. www.adaramedia.com

Avalanche Technology Inc., a Fremont, Calif.-based developer of non-volatile magnetic memory storage solutions, has raised $11.5 million in new Series A funding. Vulcan Capital led the round, and was joined by Bessemer Venture Partners, Leader Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Qualcomm Ventures and Thomvest Ventures. www.avalanche-technology.com

Onavo Mobile, an Israel-based developer of a mobile app for data compression, has raised $10 million in Series B funding. Horizons Ventures led the round, and was joined by Motorola Mobility Ventures and return backers Sequoia Capital and Magma Venture Partners. www.onavo.com

Recurly
, a San Francisco-based provider of pay-as-you-go subscription billing services, has raised $6 million in Series A funding. BV Capital led the round, and was joined by Polaris Venture Partners, Harrison Metal Capital and FreeStyle Capital. www.recurly.com

Talari Networks, a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of WAN virtualization solutions, has raised $4.5 million in new VC funding. Return backers include Menlo Ventures and Silver Creek Ventures. The company previously raised over $15 million. www.talari.com

Continuuity, a startup focused on helping developers with big data apps, has raised $2.5 million in first round funding from Battery Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and Ignition Partners. The company was founded by Todd Papaioannou, a Battery entrepreneur-in-residence who previously was chief cloud architect at Yahoo.

CN Creative Ltd., a British developer of solutions to reduce smoking and smoking-related illnesses, has raised £2 million in Series A funding led by Advent Life Sciences. www.cncbio.co.uk
