Motorola has a fantastic superphone coming out in the next few months but it will get passed over because Motorola has crippled it with its Blur overlay.
As far as upcoming Android smartphones are concerned, few are more anticipated than Motorola’s (MOT) Olympus which is rumored for release either in December or January on AT&T (T) and a month or so later on Verizon(VZ). Rumored specs include a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1080P HDMI-out and bunch of next generation features.
Gizmodo produced some pictures today (found at a flea market?!) which may rain on everyone’s parade. Instead of running (almost) stock Android like Motorola’s Droids, the Olympus will be crippled with MotoBlur. Motoblur is the overlay that Motorola saddles its low-end Android devices with.
What’s even sadder is that the battery icon at the top looks as green as the icons of leaked builds of Android 2.3, Gingerbread. That could indicate that Android 2.3 doesn’t stop manufactures and carriers from destroying a pure Android experience.
The Nexus S is looking better and better.
