The device will sell without a phone contract (or 3G hardware) in different markets around the world.
As was reported in August, Samsung will be one of the first to release a stand-alone iPod touch-like Android device. The YP-G50 runs on Android 2.1 OS and features 3.2-inch screen, 2MP camera, DLNA, Wi-Fi, 8 or 16GB internal memory, microSD card slot, GPS, SoundAlive, DivX support and FM Radio. I talked to Samsung’s CSO Omar Khan last month who said this wouldn’t be available in the U.S. until next year. But according to reports from Samsung Hub, it is already rolling out in France. Prices weren’t yet available.
Third-party importers will likely offer this in the U.S. as soon as stock will let it (at much higher prices).
