Power Point: Come together to watch history

“Across the country millions of us will be holding our breath as we wait to see who will become the next President of the United States of America. This is an election unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetime. It’s history in the making. This is going to be a nerve-racking night. Nobody should watch alone. You should not watch alone.”

– Oprah Winfrey, on her TV show today. “If you are watching me right now and you haven’t voted yet,” she told her viewers, “turn off your TV. Turn off your TV. Yes, I said it, turn it off and go vote.” I happened to talk with Oprah this afternoon (interviewing her for a story that I’m reporting and you’ll learn about soon enough!), and she was practically jubilant, “shaking and clicking and vibrating,” she said, as she envisioned the changes this Election Day usher in. She never mentioned Barack Obama. Of course, she didn’t have to.
