It’s official: Apple plans to unveil new laptops next week.
Just after 9 a.m. PT today, I got the customary e-mail from the folks in Cupertino, inviting me to a 10 a.m. Tuesday gathering at the Town Hall on Apple’s campus. We all know what to expect: updates to the Mac maker’s most important line of computers, its laptops. The event will take on added significance for two reasons. One, the new products represent Apple’s best chance to offer a product so compelling that consumers will buy despite tough economic times. Two, the event comes just days before Apple announces fourth quarter earnings on October 21.
