“If you want to be happy for an hour, take a nap. If you want to be happy for a day, go fishing. If you want to be happy for a week, go on a honeymoon. If you want to be happy for a year, inherit a fortune. But, if you want to be happy for a lifetime, help other people.”

– Ann Moore, chairman and CEO of Time Inc. (Fortune‘s parent), shared this bit of wisdom this morning when she was honored by the Young Women’s Leadership Foundation. This advice comes, she said, from a rabbi who wrote a letter to the editors of Real Simple. Moore figured it was well-suited for the do-good audience in attendance.

The Young Women’s Leadership Foundation, started by Ann Rubinstein Tisch, is a remarkable success story. Twelve years ago, she opened her first all-girls’ school in East Harlem. Since then, 100% of the students there, year in and year out, have gone on to college. Tisch, who is married to Andrew Tisch of Loews Corp. fame, has funded five schools in New York and Philadelphia via her foundation. She also has helped open five affiliate schools in the midwest, including the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders in Austin, which Ann Moore and other participants of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit have supported.

Newark mayor Cory Booker was also honored at the breakfast. He’s brainy and wildly charismatic. For a while, I’ve been hearing chatter that he could run for President someday. Based on what I saw this morning, I believe it.
