Help! My boss is nuts: The cooperative emailer

In their own words, readers talk about the bullies, narcissists and other crazy bosses they spend their working days with.

A reader from Boston writes:

I had a boss who, despite having no business experience, was a manager at a small company.

She, first of all, had severe emotional problems (medicated), including premenstrual dysphoric disorder. So, in addition to being the “bully” type described, she would have an emotional breakdown, tirade, or outburst once every 4 weeks. I kid you not.

In addition, she was unable to type emails by herself. She required my “assistance” to write emails, especially to groups of people. This would often consume an hour or longer because she was so ineffective at communicating even at basic levels. Talk about killing productivity.

And, as icing on the cake, she would blame every mistake she made on someone else, and would wage personal attacks on them. You know, the kind of person who defines someone else’s mistake as “that person made a mistake” but defines her own as “WE made a mistake.”

What do you think? Is this boss crazy?
