A reader from Omaha writes:
I had a female boss who has to be one of the worst in the workplace. Her mouth – which never shut up – spouted gossip, spread information about team members that shouldn’t have been shared, and talked about herself all the time (I had to listen to her talk about being pregnant for seven and a half months).
One day she loudly demanded work from me in front of other employees, which I said was in her inbox. She didn’t register – she asked for it again, apparently because she didn’t believe I could have it done that fast. It was, and she had to keep her mouth shut for once the rest of the day.
Overall, she was incompetent (she was clueless about how my job function worked but she tried to micromanage it anyway), she mistreated employees below her and kissed up to the ones above her, and generally made a fool out of herself.
