In their own words, Stanleybing.com readers talk about the bullies, narcissists and other crazy bosses they spend their working days with.

A reader from Georgia writes:

I have three bosses, if that’s what you call them, in a very, very, very small firm.

Boss 1: The self-proclaimed “president.” All talk, no action. He gets a big paycheck because I do 85% of the work. He’s supportive and gregarious when he’s not throwing a fit and insulting the rest of us. He needs medication and constant reassurance.

Boss 2: The Jack of All Trades. He runs–or should I say “ran”–the show … until a few months ago when he started his late mid-life crisis. Since then he’s been “transitioning” into a new job elsewhere, all while being paid 100% of his salary at his present job while working about 50% of the time. If that’s not bad enough, he didn’t bother to tell Boss #1 of his new job, so Boss #1 heard it through the grapevine. It’s been three months, and they still haven’t discussed the situation. In fact, they’re not talking at all these days.

Boss #3: The Bright Young Woman. She decided she needed to move eight hours away from our office and our clients to work on finding personal happiness. Whatever. Now she spends an inordinate amount of time driving for routine meetings or–my favorite–flying here and having me drive her around locally. (Did I mention the firm pays for most of her travel?) And I won’t even go into her Jerry Springer-like personal life. Lifetime could do a whole mini-series on her.

They all need therapy very badly. Meanwhile, they’re crazy and I’m keeping the ship afloat. If they’re surprised when I jump ship soon, it will only be further evidence that they’ll all f-ing nuts.

What do you think? Is this boss crazy?
