30 Best Workplaces to Retire From

See our methodology and credits

Companies on the 30 Best Workplaces to Retire From list excel in providing great employee experiences and benefits for employees nearing retirement age, and create environments that retain younger employees.

Fortune asked Great Place to Work to determine the winners by taking into account the results of the Trust Index survey, as well as the availability of benefits that matter to retirement-age employees and internal promotion rates. Great Place to Work surveyed randomly-selected employees and collected program information from approximately 600 organizations. Two-thirds of each company's score is based on this employee feedback, which measured the experiences of employees nearing retirement in aspects of the workplace important to that age group, as well as younger employees’ experiences in areas related to employee retention. The remaining one-third of each company's score is based on the availability and generosity of retirement-related benefits, as well as internal employee promotion rates.

Results from the employee survey are highly reliable, having a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of 7 percent or less. Companies were selected from a universe of about 600 Great Place to Work-certified organizations. Organizations are certified on the basis of an anonymous 58-statement survey distributed at random to a statistically significant number of current employees.
