Pat, Thank you so much for joining us to talk about your company guide. Well, mutual holding. And you have a remarkable story to tell You became CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, the health insurance company, back in 2011, and since then you have completely reinvented the company. How would you describe what guide well is today? Well, thanks, Susie Guide. Well, today is a more diversified company under the guide Well mutual insurance holding company. We have the Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield Company, which is now called Florida Blue. But we also have business called Pop Health, which delivers chronic care in the home setting. We also have emergency medical facilities that are owned under guide Well, Health, which also owns jointly through a JV primary care physician offices. We have all kinds of services that are touching people across the country, And so we're now moving from the $8 billion 2011. We have now grown to where we're not just serving one state. We're serving 46 states And we're a $27 billion dollar business. So it's been dramatic growth and the restructuring of the business has allowed us to do that. And what motivated you to make all of these changes when you became CEO? You know, when I arrived here as the CEO, what I saw was a good insurance company. But we all knew that we had to be more than that to serve our members as we move forward. We wanted to be a health solutions company, and that really meant we had to engage at things like nutrition, food, security, transportation, access to health care, really getting into the communities that we serve and looking differently at how we engage that membership. You have said that social impact is a day to day imperative. Tell us why and what that means to you and your members. It really is about engaging people and making sure we're bringing the services to all parts of our community. There are many people that are underserved, historically underserved, and we want to make sure we're reaching out to all parts of our community and looking at the whole person. In some cases, that means helping with literacy. It means helping with transportation. It means helping with nutrition, all the things that combine to literally impact the way people live their life and the health that they have along that journey. Well, I see that you've made a lot of investments in health care facilities in underserved neighborhoods in Florida, like Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale. How do you measure the impact that you're having because of these investments? You know, when the Affordable Care Act was coming along, we knew that we were gonna be serving people all across our state, many of them who had never had insurance before. And so we built medical clinics with a partner called Sanitas, and we built these medical clinics to reach people in the communities all across our state. So today we have 1.2 million people that we cover through the Affordable Care Act. We measure the quality of care. We measure the cost of care. We measured the accessibility of care, and we have our patients give us feedback on their satisfaction with the services that they're receiving. So we have a pretty good handle on whether or not we're doing the job we need to do. For the members were serving what's next for guide? Well, you've already done a lot But what else are you picturing for the future? One of the things that absolutely stepped out during the pandemic was mental health. We know we can also build on telehealth and the remote treatment of patients. That's a great opportunity that obviously came forward during the pandemic. And we intend to do more in that space. So we're very bullish that we can get ahead of this. Um, but it will take innovating, and it will take urgency around delivering for our members.
