The drugstore chain, making its debut on the Top 50 list, stopped selling cigarettes in its nearly 8,000 stores nationwide, admitting that the decision would cost the company $2 billion in lost sales. CVS, the nation’s second-largest pharmacy benefits manager, also made a deal with Gilead Sciences that would give exclusive access of its Hep-C drugs to CVS customers.
