The largest German airline is also the largest airline in Europe when combined with subsidiaries in terms of fleet size. Combined with all of its subsidiaries, Luftansa Group has 656 aircrafts, as of 2016. As of 2016, it is the second largest airline in terms of passengers carried. The aircrafts carry passengers to 18 domestic locations and 197 international locations in 78 countries around the globe. The company is one of the founding members of Star Alliance, the largest airline alliance in the world. Although headquartered in Cologne, the airline's main hub is the Frankfurt airport.
