The grocery chain has over 40,000 employees, of which more than 50% are women. The Rochester, New York-based company says 44% of its managers are women. "The family atmosphere at Wegmans is unlike anything anyone who works for another company can understand. When you tell a friend or family member about a thoughtful or caring act that a co-worker, manager or store manager has done for you, it seems unbelievable to them," according to an employee.
