- TitleCEO and Chairman, Starbucks China
No stranger to the company, Wong was promoted to Starbucks China chairman and CEO effective in June as part of a major restructuring that transformed the company’s China business into two new units: Retail and Digital Ventures; she will overee both. As Chinese competitors like Luckin Coffee increase in popularity, Wong has been busy launching new services and offerings in her China stores to compete, including introducing mobile order service “Starbucks Now” in 1,300 stores as of June, opening the chain’s first Starbucks Reserve Bakery Cafe, and piloting its first Starbucks Now Store, which focuses on takeout orders and delivery in a notable departure from the company’s typical model. What’s more, Wong is on pace to have 6,000 total stores by 2022; the chain opened over 600 last year.
