Gourmet Gorilla was created by two parents who thought they could do better. After receiving their son’s first school menu in 2009, Danielle Hrzic and Jason Weedon noticed that many ingredients were unrecognizable, and decided that kids deserved more and began their mission to bring healthy and freshly prepared meals to schools. Demand for their services quickly grew, and today they provide over 40,000 meals a day to more than 250 sites. Their clients range from early childhood programs through high school age.
Their mission has always been to make an impact on child nutrition by sourcing ingredients from farmers that encourage sustainable and regenerative growing practices, and in 2018, they launched a new brand called Grow Good Foods that creates value added products with these farmers, available to K-12, universities, and healthcare. Their goal is to make a profit while making a positive impact on local economies, the environment, and the health and wellness of the lives of people in the communities where it operates.
