Briefly in April, and then more durably during the summer, Microsoft’s valuation topped $1 trillion, making the enterprise technology giant the third U.S. company after Apple and Amazon to pass the milestone. It’s another feather in the cap of CEO Satya Nadella, who has pushed Microsoft to focus on its fast-growing Azure cloud computing business rather than its legacy Windows operating system. The cloud pivot has paid off well for Microsoft, which had $110.4 billion in revenue during its fiscal 2018.
