The slumping global smartphone market continues to eat into Samsung Electronics’ profits, which were lower than analysts had expected during its latest quarter, ending in June. The company also faces increasingly tough competition from Chinese smartphone makers like Xiaomi and Huawei in Asia. However, Samsung’s computer chip business, which is less known but still giant, is helping boost its overall revenue growth and profits.
