The Italian energy utility comes in at 78 on the Global 500, falling 9 slots from last year with $83.9 billion in revenue in 2015, a .5 drop from the previous year. CEO Francesco Starace is leading an aggressive restructuring and is pushing to simplify the company’s sprawling network of businesses by 2020. Part of his strategy: increase investments in emerging regions, particularly Latin America, and commit to renewable energy. In November, it bought out minority shareholders in Enel Green Power, its renewable energy subsidiary.
