The world’s largest chemical company managed to eke out growth in 2014 thanks to the strong performance of its core chemicals business. Demand for herbicides and fungicides also boosted its agricultural segment, and BASF’s oil and gas business grew slightly despite the sharp decline in oil prices. The automotive coatings business was also a bright spot. CEO Kurt Bock has cautioned that economic uncertainty in Europe and geopolitical issues are challenges that are unlikely to go away in 2015.
