Longtime MetLife exec Michel Khalaf succeeded Steven Kandarian as the insurer’s CEO on May 1 of 2019. Khalaf, who was most recently president, U.S. Business and EMEA, is expected to bring his global experience to bear as he continues Kandarian’s work on de-risking the business. MetLife’s revenues climbed nearly 3% to $67.9 billion last year, while its profits jumped almost 28%. The insurer is still recovering from its 2017 disclosure that it failed to pay out owed pension payments, news that affected public perception more than its stock price.
