Sysco continues to enjoy a firm hold over the wholesale food distribution market despite a failed $3.5 billion takeover of its biggest competitor, US Foods, in 2015. Sysco is up three spots on the Fortune 500 with a 9.9% revenue increase in fiscal year 2017 from the previous year. The Houston, Texas-based company came under new leadership on Jan. 1, 2018 with the promotion of its president and chief operating officer Tom Bené to CEO.
