The Boston-based insurer’s revenue rose 1.7% in 2014, driven by large gains in its personal insurance businesses. In 2014, Liberty Mutual signed an agreement with Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary National Indemnity Co. to provide coverage for Liberty Mutual’s worker’s compensation and asbestos and environmental liabilities, up to $6.5 billion. The deal helped convince Standard and Poor’s to upgrade Liberty Mutual Group’s bond rating from BBB- to BBB.
