Coca-Cola’s executives have called 2015 a “transition year,” as the beverage giant makes moves to better position itself in a world where global volume for its beverages has been muted. But surprisingly, Coke kicked off the year with a bang: revenue grew 1% to $10.71 billion in the first quarter, the first increase in nine quarters. The namesake Coca-Cola brand, as well as Coke Zero, Sprite and Fanta all performed well, offsetting a decline for Diet Coke. Diet sodas have posted lagging volume, as consumers are more concerned about the health effects of artificial sweeteners.
