The insurance giant continued to slide down the list this year, with its revenue shrinking 6.2% in 2014. Under the new leadership of CEO Peter Hancock, AIG’s earnings were hit by a plan to refinance expensive, existing debt load that should set the insurer up for higher profits down the road. AIG is facing the same sorts of headwinds that all bond investors face–persistent low rates with no end in sight. Nonetheless, AIG retains its massive global presence, serving more than 89% of Fortune Global 500 companies.
