With about one-third of Vietnam’s population still lacking access to formal financial services, VietinBank is working to address the problem with its rural credit and financial-literacy work. The state-owned bank, whose name is short for Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade, has undertaken rural credit and financial-literacy work as part of the country’s financial inclusion strategy aiming to set up 80% of adults with bank accounts by 2025. The company is also pushing credit and financial literacy programs to underserved populations. It launched the Youth Connect Card to educate students with financial knowledge. This Trẻ Connect Card is also designed to encourage proactive personal spending management habits for students.
