HCA Healthcare, a Nashville-based hospital operator, continued its steady growth in 2019 with annual revenue of $51.3 billion, an increase of nearly $5 billion from the previous year, even as net income dipped 5%. HCA's facility admissions have increased over the past year, and it now operates 184 hospitals, up from 179 the year before. Its hospitals treated 35 million patients in 2019, a new record. And the company's goal of expanding clinical capacity has been boosted by multimillion-dollar capital investments. Like many hospital operators, HCA is facing considerable financial pressure related to the coronavirus pandemic; this spring, it suspended its quarterly dividend.
