India-based CareNX is decentralizing fetal monitoring by making its flagship AI-powered fetal heart-rate tool called Fetosense open source. Conventional fetal monitoring typically requires hospital equipment and trained specialists, but Fetosense allows a general physician or front-line worker to perform fetal screening on site in lower-resourced or rural settings where an obstetrician may not be available. Fetosense’s AI and machine learning features help physicians spot early warning signs, and remote monitoring allows physicians to access nonstress tests (NSTs) and cardiotocography (CTG) results from anywhere. The company also offers a cervical cancer screening tool called SindiColpo that lets field nurses perform tests on women in community health camps and clinics.
