Ridding the city of London of a million cars is just one of the many goals Travis Kalanick has set for himself. As co-founder of taxi app Uber, the 38-year old has been connecting millions of passengers with drivers, decreasing traffic congestion, and boosting the value of his five- year-old startup to a whopping $18 billion. Kalanick’s ride has come with a few bumps in the road. Competition is heating up, and to operate without a license under local law, Uber recently had to slash its fees from 1.60 euros to 35 euro cents per kilometer in Germany. —J.A.
