It’s not often that men will break the bank for shoes. But Nike’s Parker has managed to grow the world’s largest athletic gear company and up the 40-year-old brand’s cool factor by pumping out innovative designs, incorporating new social media tech, and launching exclusive artist collaborations (a sneaker co-designed by Kanye West sold on eBay for $90,300). Parker, who was a track all-star at Penn State University and started at Nike as a designer, has roughly doubled the company’s sales since he took over as CEO in 2006. This fall, he launched a new line for women, a category he says will add another $2 billion in sales by the end of 2017. —A.V.
