Employees say they still love the company’s “high-performing culture that is supportive, inclusive, and fosters a sense of belonging.” One way Capital One is helping employees belong? A program started specifically for introverts in business. Dubbed Supporting Introverts in Leadership, this series provides fireside chats with leaders who self-identify as introverts to share their personal stories of courage, belonging in the workplace, and leadership. The series, which began in late 2018, has already spurred a discussion that engages introverts, extroverts, and ambiverts alike among the bank’s associates. Despite a massive data breach in 2019, the company’s mission hasn’t changed. Says one employee, “I love that the company allows individuals to be exactly that: individuals. We are free to express ourselves in unique ways and are not expected to conform to any specific standard.”
