    Silicon Valley-based firm that provides cloud infrastructure and makes virtualization software recognizes standout employees as “Fellows” and gives an $800,000 endowment in their names to a university of their choice for computer science education. To date, the firm has donated $4 million to Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley, Northern Arizona University and Scripps College on behalf of VMware Fellows. That’s not the only way VMware combines recognition and philanthropy: employees earning an award for exemplifying the firm’s values get a monetary bonus and the firm gives $3,141.59 (Pi) to a charity of the employee’s choice.
