Founded in 1927, Salt Lake City-based company helped launch the employee recognition industry—what used to be gold watches for 25 years’ service and now includes software tools to let employees give public kudos to peers. O. C. Tanner makes sure it appreciates its own team. The firm used to have a holiday party for managers only, but starting two years ago it became an all-employee dinner, with managers serving the meals. This past holiday season, the company made a reservation at a 5-star hotel for the event so every O.C. Tanner employee—including the cafeteria and maintenance staffs—could relax and feel included.
