Natalie Montelongo spent every morning of her childhood crossing an international bridge from Matamoros, Mexico, where her family resided, to her school in Brownsville, Texas. That time spent along the U.S.-Mexico border has long informed her worldview and driven her to politics to fight for her community, and she’s used her voice to speak out against ICE and deportations, and to keep border communities open.

She worked as a political director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, as national campaign strategist for immigrant rights at the American Civil Liberties Union, and then as the political director for Julián Castro’s presidential 2020 campaign. She currently serves as deputy director for political strategy and outreach in the Biden White House, where she will help shape policy as the administration hammers out the details of its immigration reform plan.
