How do you keep an 87-year-old men’s lifestyle magazine relevant through a massive upheaval in fashion and the way men live? That’s the challenge faced by Michael Sebastian, Esquire’s editor-in-chief since June 2019. Sebastian joined Hearst in 2015 to run the company’s digital newsroom and was promoted to Esquire’s digital director in 2017. When more men are looking to Instagram and other online sources for fashion and lifestyle advice, Sebastian is charged with bringing that online sensibility to Esquire’s print edition.
