First there was Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Taco, then came Papa John’s (PZZA) Frito Chili Pizza, and now there’s another bizarre (or inspired?) snack food mashup from Burger King (BKW).
“Mac n’ Cheetos make the previously unthinkable a reality,” Burger King stated in a press release obtained by Fortune. The new menu item is essentially deep fried mac and cheese shaped like a large Cheeto puff and coated with crispy Cheeto flavor, or that bright orange halo surrounding your mouth after you scarf down a bag of Cheetos.
Chief marketing officer for PepsiCo Foodservice, Robert Rio, describes it as a “Dangerously Cheesy reimagination of mac n’ cheese.” A single order will come with five pieces, and the international burger chain has recommended that franchisees price it at $2.49. Burger King notes that Mac n’ Cheetos are perfect for someone who’s on the go or “anyone who ever wished they could eat warm mac n’ cheese like they do a bag of chips.”
This cheesy frankenfood will be available for a limited time at participating locations starting June 27.
