In celebration Sony Pictures’ (SNE) upcoming Ghostbusters reboot, Wednesday has been declared “Ghostbusters Day,” and there is plenty of ways for you to celebrate.
First, you can go see the original 1984 movie — which opened exactly 22-years-ago today. The film is being shown in select theaters around the country, so even if you’re not excited about the new film, whose trailer was widely considered to be a disappointment, you can still participate.
There is also going to be a melding of the two movies. The main casts of both the original films and the new movie — Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts from the originals and Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones from the upcoming film — will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight to discuss all matters of busting ghosts.
There is also going to be a new Twitter sweepstakes launched Wednesday. By following @Ghostbusters on Twitter, users can win prizes related to the franchise.
Paul Feig, the director of the new film, got fans exciting by Tweeting a picture of the two casts Wednesday morning.
The new film is released in theaters July 15.
