Donald Trump will win the Republican primary race in Louisiana, according to projections from the Associated Press. This was the first win of the day for the New York businessman; rival Ted Cruz won caucuses in Kansas and Maine in the earlier in the evening.
The results of the contest in Kentucky, which was also held on Saturday, are still too close to call. It was a closed primary, meaning that only registered Republicans could vote. Some of Trump’s previous wins had come in open primaries, where independents or even Democrats could cross party lines to vote.
The next big contest for the GOP will take place in Michigan on Tuesday. The latest polls suggest that the race in that state will come down to Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
