Actifio, a Waltham, Mass.-based protection and availability storage platform company, has raised $50 million in new VC funding. Technology Crossover Ventures led the round, and was joined by return backers Andreessen Horowitz, ATV, Greylock Israel and North Bridge Venture Partners. Avedro Inc.,a Waltham, Mass.-based developer of ophthalmic medical devices, has raised $43 million in Series B funding. Abingworth led the round, and was joined by Third Point and return backers Prism VentureWorks, De Novo Ventures, Flagship Ventures, Aperture Ventures, SCP Vitalife Partners, Borealis Ventures and Echelon Ventures. www.avedro.com

Jumia, an African clone of Amazon.com that was founded by Rocket Internet, has raised €20 million in new funding from Summit Partnerswww.jumia.com
