The Carlyle Group has agreed to acquire DuPont’s (NYSE: DD) vehicle and industrial coatings business for $4.9 billion. The deal is expected to close in early 2013. www.carlyle.com

Apax Partners and JMI Equity have agreed to acquire Paradigm Ltd., a provider of geosciences software solutions, from Fox Paine & Co. for $1 billion. www.pdgm.com

Bain Capital and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. are both in talks to acquire around a 30% stake in the power generation business of India’s Lanco Infratech, according to Reuters. www.lancogroup.com

Industrial Opportunity Partners
 has acquired Aarrowcast Inc., a Shawano, Wis.–based maker of gray, ductile and austempered ductile iron castings. Sellers include Cornerstone Capital Partners and J.H. Whitney & Co. No financial terms were disclosed. www.aarrowcast.com

ITC Global Inc., a St. Petersburg, Fla.-based portfolio company of Riverside Partners, has agreed to acquire Spidersat Communications Ltd., a provider of satellite-based communication services for mining, exploration, and mining services companies operating in Africa.
