Appcelerator, a Mountain View, CA-based maker of a platform used to create apps, has raised $16 million in a new round of funding, Silicon Valley Wire reports, citing a filing with the SEC. Details about the investors were not disclosed. Four months ago Appcelerator closed a $15 million funding round. Investors in that round included Mayfield Fund, TransLink Capital, Red Hat, eBay, Sierra Ventures, and Storm Ventures. www.appcelerator.com

Yammer Inc., a San Francisco–based provider of enterprise social networks, has raised $85 million in fifth-round funding. DFJ Growth led the round, and was joined by Meritech Capital Partners, Capricorn Investment Group, Khosla Ventures, CrunchFund and return backers Charles River Ventures, Emergence Capital, Founders Fund, Social+Capital Partnership, and U.S. Venture Partners. SolarCity, a Foster City, Calif.-based provider of solar energy system installation and design, has raised $81 million in Series G funding. Silver Lake Kraftwerk and Valor Equity Partners co-led the round, and was joined by Nicholas Pritzker and Shea Ventures. Some existing shareholders like Elon Musk and BDL Investors also participated, but others like DFJ, Mayfield and Generation Investment Management did not.
