Exclusive: Mood Rowghani joins Kleiner Perkins

June 1, 2011, 8:24 PM UTC

Mood Rowghani is the newest partner at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Fortune has learned. He previously was a vice president in the Palo Alto office of Summit Partners.

Rowghani began work yesterday in Kleiner’s Silicon Valley office, and will be part of its technology investment team. Expect him to pay particular attention to later-stage opportunities, given his Summit background and Kleiner’s recent decision to raise a “Digital Growth” fund.

At Summit, Rowghani’s investments included AFCV Holdings, a St. Louis-based provider of social media and online information resources for consumers. He previously worked at Yahoo, Highland Capital Partners and McKinsey & Co.

I reached out to Rowghani yesterday via email – his phone wasn’t yet up and running at KP HQ – but didn’t hear back.
