While we wait to find out if Jack Dorsey really is returning to Twitter full-time, here’s some other personnel scoop from the micro-messaging juggernaut:
Satya Patel has quietly stepped down as a Silicon Valley-based partner with Battery Ventures, in order to join Twitter.
I don’t yet know what his new job title is, but wouldn’t be surprised if it has something to do with advertising (i.e., monetization). Prior to joining Battery in 2007, Patel had spent four years working on AdSense at Google (GOOG) — including as the unit’s senior product manager. Before that, he led DoubleClick’s search marketing business.
[UPDATE: Patel will be Twitter’s director of product management, reporting to CEO Dick Costolo]
A Battery spokeswoman confirmed the move, saying that Patel will remain with the firm in a venture partner capacity. She also said that Patel will retain some of his board seats.
According to Battery’s website, he currently is a director with BlueKai, BrightEdge, Freewheel Media, Gogobot, Jelli, LiveIntent and Lotame. He also is a board observer at Bazaarvoice and SafetyWeb.
[Update II: New tweet just appeared on @twitterglobalpr: We’re excited for Satya Patel (@satyap) to @jointheflock as a director of product mgmt, starting April 4th:
