Oregon newspaper is looking for a marijuana critic by Ben Geier @FortuneMagazine August 18, 2015, 11:06 AM EDT E-mail Tweet Facebook Linkedin Share icons In a move that is perhaps signifying the continuing mainstreaming of pot culture, The Oregonian, a major daily newspaper based in Portland, is seeking a marijuana enthusiast to be its cannabis critic, reports AdWeek. The job, which would be filled by a freelance writer, would review strains of cannabis, other pot products like edibles, and write about trends in Oregon’s pot market. Recreational pot became legal in Oregon this year. In other states where the once-banned drug has become legal, newspapers have sought to capitalize by hiring experts. In Colorado, for example, The Denver Post has a separate site called “The Cannabist” for marijuana coverage. Marijuana has the potential to take its place among other vice products like tobacco and alcohol as more and more states legalize possession of recreational amounts.
