Methodology

Companies on the 50 Best Workplaces for Recent College Graduates list are experiencing job growth and these new jobs are being filled with a high percentage of recent graduates. These workplaces also excel in providing great employee experiences in areas important to recent graduates.

Fortune asked Great Place to Work to determine the winners by taking into account the rate at which companies are adding new jobs year-over-year, how many of their newest employees were recent college graduates, and the results on a series of questions from the Trust Index related to workplace traits important to recent graduates. Great Place to Work surveyed more than 337,000 randomly-selected employees and collected program information from approximately 600 organizations. Employees rated their organization on things including development opportunities, purpose and meaning behind their work, whether promotions are fair, and more. Two-thirds of each company's score is based on this employee feedback. The remaining one-third of each company's score is based on the rate of new job growth, and the extent to which organizations are hiring new college graduates.

Results from the employee survey are highly reliable, having a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of 5 percent or less. Companies were selected from a universe of about 600 Great Place to Work-certified organizations. Organizations are certified on the basis of an anonymous 58-statement survey distributed at random to a statistically significant number of current employees.

“There are a lot of reasons I love my job but I think the best part about ALKU is the opportunity to grow within the company! I came into the job with no experience in the industry but they trusted the skill set I had and trained me thoroughly. From the beginning, it’s made clear that if you work hard, you will be rewarded and that’s proven to be true so far. I want to see ALKU continue to succeed and I am excited about to the idea of contributing in more ways in the future.”

“When I made the move to Boston last summer, I didn’t have many friends in the area. So I threw myself into my new job and within a short amount of time, my co-workers became some of my best friends! The energy in the office is always fun and friendly. Not a day goes by where I don’t find myself laughing and I think everyone in the office can say the same thing.”

“Aside from the social aspects, we always find ways to praise each other on a job well done and that really motivates me to continue working hard. We work with urgency which could be a stressful setting for another company, but at ALKU I think we feed off of it and produce better work because of it.”

“I couldn’t have dreamed up a better job to have right out of school! I knew nothing about this industry but my co-workers were patient with me, they never made me feel inferior for asking questions, and they are always encouraging. When I started feeling solidified in my position, I knew I was trusted enough to make my role my own and any new ideas I contribute are always valued by upper management. In summary, the culture here is energetic, fast-paced, and motivational!”
