Rankings for the 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials are based entirely upon employees' own feedback and selected from a database of more than 600 organizations that have been certified by Great Place to Work.

To determine the list, Fortune asked Great Place to Work to survey more than 88,000 millennials (born 1981 or later), who rated their organizations on 58 workplace quality questions. Employees considered the sincerity of managers' support for people's personal and professional lives, how transparent communication is, people's ability to be themselves at work and to invest in their lives outside work, and the meaning they get from their jobs, among many other factors.

Millennials' anonymous responses resulted in a total score for each company, which was compared to the benchmark for organizations of that size. Companies needed to employ at least 50 millennials and achieve a 95% confidence level and margin of error of 5% or less in order to be eligible.

“Kimley-Horn is an excellent place to work and are always placing the needs of the employees first. It is true that Kimley-Horn offers amazing bonus throughout the year and their employees are compensated well, but we also love what we do. We love what we do because Kimley-Horn cares about each and every single employee. Although I have only been here a few years, my ideas, thoughts, issues, and solutions are always taken seriously. The reason for this is because of the people in our firm. We have amazing staff that will take the time to listen—no matter how busy they are. Other unique aspects to our company include: $50 Kimley-Horn & Associates awards to give to employees who go above and beyond, lunch coupons for young professionals to take out senior staff, monthly ‘VP of Fun Events’ (such as metroplex kickball tournaments, ice cream socials, cooking contests, pot luck events, etc.), a continuous quality improvement (CQI) program so we continually place quality at the forefront of everything we do, 401(k) contributions, and a Women’s Leadership Organization,” says a millennial worker at this design firm.
